The ROS1ders Need More Research!
Please join me and help make a difference
Honoring Kay by Supporting ROS1+ Cancer Research
In honor of Kay’s anniversary, we are raising funds for The ROS1ders this year. Kay’s non-small cell lung cancer had a very rare ROS1 mutation. Her first line of defense was Entrectinib. It worked beautifully for 6 months until the sneaky cancer worked around the meds. Thus, more research needs to be done.
Please join me in supporting real change. The ROS1ders are raising money to support patient-partnered research into this disease. ROS1-positive (ROS1+) cancer is relatively rare; we need to generate more research to move toward a cure, and we could use your help.
Their Scientific Advisory Board helps identify new projects that may have the greatest impact on ROS1+ cancer. Since 2023, they have funded The ROS1+ Cancer Innovation Award. This seed grant program has disbursed hundreds of thousands of dollars to projects critical to improving patient outcomes. Additionally, they launched a new program to collect patient specimens and real-world data, generate new models of this cancer, and share these resources with researchers.
In addition to research, The ROS1ders also focus on community and education. They maintain a robust website that has become a go-to resource for both patients and healthcare professionals, and administer an active private online support group. They also host the in-person ROS1ders PRIME Summit (PRIME = Patient and Researcher Interaction for Mutual Education). The Summit is one of the most meaningful ways our community comes together. It offers a rare opportunity for ROS1+ patients and their supporters to be in the same room with others who truly understand the questions, decisions, uncertainty, and hope that come with this diagnosis.
With your help, The ROS1ders will continue moving forward and improving outcomes for people living with ROS1+ cancer. Every amount makes a difference. I hope you’ll join me in supporting The ROS1ders!
