Dear friends and family,
I realize this time of the year you are receiving many requests for donations to many very worthwhile causes. I would ask a few minutes of your time, yes it’s a request for a donation, but it is very personal to me and my fellow ROS1ders.
Everyone was surprised last year when they found out I had Stage IV Lung Cancer. It started with a cough that wouldn’t go away, then an observant doctor, a few standard tests, gene test and a diagnosis. I had a ROS1 mutation, which is a rare cancer only found in 1-2% of lung cancer diagnosis. It predominately occurs in healthy female non-smokers.
I was entering a new world, but I felt lucky that the ROS1 mutation was found and I have been on targeted therapies ever since. I joined an amazing international group the ROS1ders! This group shares stories and treatments and supports one another. Everyday I thank the researchers, doctors and patients who have been on the forefront of testing, for without them there wouldn’t be any medicine available today.
We’re raising money to fund ROS1-specific research, in which 100% of the fully-tax deductible funds raised will go directly to support our critical projects in 2023:
  1. Award 2-3 $75,000 research grants to researchers pursuing work on ROS1+ cancer.
  2. Host our 3rd Annual Research Roundtable where top ROS1der researchers and ROS1der patients will discuss how best to facilitate the study of our disease. As in previous years, we will publish a formal White Paper with our findings.
  3. Continue to improve our website, including adding language translations so we can reach more people worldwide.
All of these projects are CRITICAL to better understanding our disease, supporting patients, and improving outcomes.
Thank you in advance for supporting, in any amount, our fundraising efforts! This cause and this research are critically important to me, and I am so grateful for your donations.

The ROS1ders has a Gold Star rating with GuideStar. The mission statement is "The ROS1ders is a global group of patients and caregivers living with ROS1+ cancer. We seek to improve outcomes for all ROS1+ cancers through community, education, and research.”
