Hi,
I wanted to do something good and make the world a better place. When I found out that
ROS1-positive cancer is a rare and aggressive type of cancer for which there is no cure, I felt compelled to help. The ROS1ders, Inc. are a global group of ROS1+ patients and caregivers that collaborate with researchers with the hope of improving outcomes for their disease. That's why I created a fundraiser to support The ROS1ders, Inc.
In 2023 the ROS1ders funded two $75,000 seed grants for ROS1+ cancer research projects:
The first went to Lynn Heasley, PhD, and Raphael Nemenoff, PhD, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus — Novel murine ROS1+ cancer models for next-generation therapeutics. This project aims to develop the first genetically engineered mouse that has ROS1+ cancer AND an intact immune system. These mice will enable study of the immune microenvironment surrounding the cancer as well as new treatment options.
The second seed grant was awarded to Jürgen Wolf, MD, University Hospital Cologne (Universitätsklinikum Köln) – An international consortium to generate high-quality real-world evidence for the optimization of treatment strategies in ROS1-positive lung cancer. This project builds on the existing program in Germany for gathering cancer patient data and samples and expands it to a consortium of countries within the European Union. It’s hard to gather enough data on a rare cancer like ROS1+ to determine best treatment practices. The database aims to generate evidence that can guide the treatment of patients and improve outcomes.
Our goal for 2024 is to be able to fund three more $75,000 seed grants. With your help, we're so excited to move forward and help those with ROS1+ cancer improve outcomes! Visit our website to learn more about the ROS1ders patient-partnered research at The ROS1ders Global Initiative.
