This Thanksgiving, I’m celebrating 7 years of surviving my rare lung cancer.
Ronen and my family donate every year - but this year is different.
Research dollars have been dramatically reduced or eliminated by the current administration, leaving many cancer patients worried that progress toward new therapies may slow down or stop. My current treatment has kept me stable for a few years, but it won’t work forever. TKI drugs keep the cancer controlled, but there is no cure for stage 4 lung cancer.
And this is exactly why research matters.
We need more brilliant scientists - the cool nerds who’ve become heroes to me - developing the next drug that will save lives like mine.
Last year, thanks to fundraising, The ROS1ders funded two $75,000 seed grants for ROS1+ cancer research. This year, our goal is to fund three.
Any size donation will help me reach my personal fundraising goal of $5,555, chosen to honor 7 years of living with stage 4 lung cancer - made possible only through research, and the love and support of family and friends.
Why $5,555? The number 5 symbolizes good luck.
People sometimes tell me I’m “not lucky” because I got lung cancer despite never smoking. But I do feel lucky and thankful - for targeted therapy that is keeping me alive, and for my amazing and supportive husband, daughter, family, and friends.
